A Grand Seiko first, in Gold This modern reinterpretation of the 62GS, Grand Seiko’s first automatic mechanical model, depicts a beautiful moment in the ever-changing seasons in Japan. In a first for a non-limited edition with the 62GS case design, it is crafted in 18K rose gold. The warm pink dial depicts a scene in which cherry blossoms are concealed by fallen snow, a rare phenomenon known as sakura-kakushi. This beautiful sight can be experienced in the early spring of the Tohoku region of northern Japan, which includes Iwate Prefecture, home of the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi. The stunning dial captures spring’s early, fleeting days and changes its appearance depending on the angle and the play of light. It makes the seemingly pedestrian act of checking the time into a captivating event for the eyes. The brown leather strap, which is symbolic of the tree’s trunk, adds to the atmos
