First established in 1832 by a professional Swiss watchmaker, Auguste Agassiz, the company developed over the years as a family-run and owned business, incorporating new and innovative award-winning methods and machinery to produce ever-evolving watch mechanisms and styles, all of the highest standard. In 1867, the first Longines watch factory was purchased in St. Imier, Switzerland (Long Meadows). The company exerted continual efforts to ensure technical and mechanical development of its Swiss quality movements, updated designs, and superior mechanisms. The legendary aviation pilot who crossed the Atlantic in 1927, Charles Lindbergh, collaborated with Longines to create the pioneering Hour Angle watch.
